Aluminium louvre colours: RAL or wood effect and how to match them

The colour of aluminium louvres can match the frame, windows or façade, or create a contrast. Anthracite RAL 7016 is the most common choice, closely followed by RAL 1035. The Klasik profile is available in RAL shades and wood-effect finishes, while we make interlocking louvres only in RAL colours. As the frame and louvres are powder-coated separately, you do not have to choose the same shade for both.
RAL colours for aluminium louvres
Anthracite RAL 7016 appears in around 6 out of 10 quotes where the colour has already been specified. It is our standard and often matches dark window frames, an aluminium pergola or other features of the house. However, it is not the only option.
- RAL 7016 – anthracite, our standard,
- RAL 9005 – black,
- ANODA C31 – champagne gold,
- other recommended shades – RAL 1035, 7032, 1019, 7039, 8019, 8017, 9010, 1013 and 9006.
If you need to match a specific window, railing or pergola colour, send us its RAL code. We will check whether that shade is available. The aluminium is powder-coated, does not corrode and only needs rinsing with water as part of routine maintenance. We recommend colours with a fine-textured finish.
Wood effect only for Klasik louvres
The Klasik aluminium profile gives you the appearance of timber without having to renew a wood stain regularly. You can choose from three shades: Walnut, Golden Oak and Light Oak. Wood-effect finishes appear in approximately 3% of quotes. Most customers choosing the Klasik profile opt for one of the RAL shades.
How the wood effect is created: we spray the louvre in a suitable RAL shade, transfer the wood grain pattern into the coating using a film and then place the louvre in an oven.
| Feature | Aluminium Klasik | Aluminium interlocking |
|---|---|---|
| RAL shades | yes | yes |
| Wood effect | Walnut, Golden Oak, Light Oak | no |
| Appearance when closed | cascading overlap | almost flat surface |
| Maximum length | 2 m | 3 m |
When closed, Klasik louvres partially overlap. Interlocking louvres fit into one another, creating an almost flat surface without gaps. We explain the differences in more detail in our comparison of Klasik and interlocking louvres.
Two colours on one frame
The aluminium frame and louvres can have the same shade or two different colours. An anthracite frame is often combined with lighter louvres, or a light frame with darker shading. A single colour creates a calmer appearance, while contrast highlights the separate lines of the frame and louvres.
If you would like to introduce real timber into the space, a suitable combination is a timber frame with aluminium louvres. The timber remains fully visible, while only the frame coating needs to be renewed regularly.
Choosing a colour from physical samples
You do not need to specify the shade when you first contact us. To begin with, a photograph of the space and its approximate height and width are enough. During the on-site measurement, our technician will bring a physical colour chart that you can hold directly against the façade, window frame or pergola. This means you are not choosing from a screen alone.
