Why combine wood and aluminium?

The best of both materials in one system

This pairing offers the best of both worlds – the warmth and authenticity of wood for the frame and the maintenance-free durability of aluminium for the louvres.

☼

The natural look of a wooden frame

Solid visual-grade BSH spruce beams give your pergola an authentic natural character. The wood can be finished with a stain in a shade that matches your exterior.

◆

Louvre choice: classic or interlocking

The cascading profile of the classic louvre, or the interlocking profile for a flat surface without gaps. We supply classic louvres in wood-effect finishes and RAL colours, interlocking louvres in RAL colours.

◫

Maintenance-free aluminium louvres

Unlike wooden louvres, aluminium ones do not warp or deform. They never need recoating – just rinse them with water and they look like new. Powder coating keeps the colour stable whatever the weather.

⇔

You only paint the frame

You renew the stain on the wooden frame once every 3–5 years. The louvres never need recoating – just rinse them with water when needed.

Flexible shading

Ordinary shading has one position. Ours has infinitely many.

With ordinary shading, the louvre angle or position is fixed in advance. Our solution lets you tilt the louvres from 0° to 140° – keep them fully closed for complete privacy or set them to exactly the angle you want.

  • Protection from sun, wind and rain
  • Privacy on your terrace, gazebo or balcony
  • Fixed, pivoting and sliding frame options

Sliding systems

Frames that slide

A frame does not have to stay in one place all season.

The sliding version lets you move the shade to wherever you need it – and when you do not need it at all, slide the frames together and the view is clear. We offer two versions that differ in how the frame is guided: it either hangs from the top or also runs in a floor guide. The choice depends on the frame width, the number of bays and whether you want the floor completely clear.

Top-hung guide

The frame hangs from the top profile and slides to one side. There is nothing in the floor, so the passage is step-free. For stability and smooth running, the maximum louvre width with a top guide is 1.2 m.

  • Maximum frame width 1.2 m
  • The floor stays completely clear
  • Slides to one side
  • Suitable for balconies and smaller bays

Bottom guide

The frame is guided at the top and bottom, so it can handle larger sizes and more bays. Most often it is a single row in which the frames slide to the sides – left or right, depending on where you want it open at the moment. Two rows one behind the other are another option: the frames then slide behind each other and open up a larger part of the bay. The bottom profile is mounted on the floor surface; we do not recess it into the paving.

  • Maximum frame width: wood 1.5 m · aluminium 2 m
  • One row: frames slide left and right
  • Two rows: frames slide behind each other and open up a larger part of the bay
  • Bottom profile on the surface, not recessed into the paving

FAQ

All about this combination

Answers to the questions we are asked most often.

Why combine a wooden frame with aluminium louvres?
Because each material does what it does best. You see the frame as a whole, so you want the warmth of wood there. The louvres turn thousands of times a season, and that is where a material that does not warp or deform pays off. This combination accounts for roughly 35 % of our enquiries.
What needs maintenance?
Only the wooden frame. You renew the stain once every 3–5 years, depending on how much sun and rain it gets. The aluminium louvres need no maintenance – just rinse them with water when needed.
What is the maximum louvre length?
Up to 3 metres for interlocking louvres, up to 2 metres for classic ones. That is exactly why this combination pays off – a wooden louvre could manage 1.5 metres at most, so with aluminium you can shade a wider bay without a post in the middle.
Can the louvres come in a wood-effect finish?
Yes. We supply classic louvres in Walnut, Golden oak and Light oak wood-effect finishes, so they visually match the wooden frame. Interlocking louvres come in RAL colours.
Won't the wood get damp from the paving?
No. The frame stands on adjustable feet of 1–5 cm, so it does not touch the floor and does not soak up moisture from below.
Are the louvres screwed on?
No. The louvre is simply inserted into the rotation system – it is not drilled and nothing cuts into it.
How much does it cost?
A frame 1 m wide and 2 m high starts at €511 excluding VAT and installation. We will send you the exact price in a quote once you send us your dimensions.
What is the warranty?
Two years as standard.
